1. Who are THOMCO and AFDS?

THOMCO is the Program Administrator for the Insurance Company who is rated A or higher by A.M. Best. THOMCO was founded in 1977 and is located in Kennesaw, GA. AFDS (American Federation of Daily-Care Services) is a department within THOMCO that handles this program. The AFDS In-home Child Care Program is one of the longest running programs at THOMCO.

2. Does this program offer Automobile Insurance?

At this time this program does not offer Automobile Insurance.

3. Does this program offer Homeowners Insurance?

At this time this program does not offer Homeowners Insurance.

4. How much Insurance do I need?

This is a question that only you can answer, you need to be sure that you are protecting your current assets as well as any future assets and earnings that you may have. The highest limit of insurance available under this program is $1,000,000 per occurrence/$3,000,000 aggregate.

5. Is there a premium charge to add an additional insured to my policy?

For those Landlords or Resource and Referral Agencies who will not accept a copy of your policy and require to be named on the policy as an Additional Insured there is a $30.00 charge for this endorsement inclusive of taxes and fees. For other individuals who may need to be named as an Additional Insured to your policy there is a $30.00 charge for this endorsement inclusive of taxes and fees and these Additional Insureds are subject to underwriting approval.

6. What is the $60.00 membership fee?

The insurance is through what is known as a Risk Purchasing Group. The formation of a Risk Purchasing Group allows our AFDS Program to put together an insurance program specifically for a group of like exposures such as in-home child care providers. With a Risk Purchasing Group our AFDS Program is able to bring our In-home Child Care Program insurance at a "better" group rate than what we could get for individual policyholders. The membership fee gives you access to the program and will be included with your quote. The fee covers administrative expenses, including filings, as well as behind the scenes work to negotiate rates, coverages and loss control services. Members have access to Loss Control services provided by Bill Coons. Send Bill an e-mail and he will help guide you to recognizing and controlling hazards you might not be aware of. Find out before an accident happens if you are following BEST PRACTICES for Safety at your home based child care center. The membership fee is due and payable annually.

7. How do I cancel my policy?

A written request must be submitted including your policy number, the date you want to terminate your insurance coverage and the reason for the cancellation request. Premium refunds will be mailed out on the 15th day of the month following the processed cancellation.
